Fuzzi Bunz - FAQ

How many diapers and inserts do I need?

I use Fuzzi Bunz full time and I have 12 diapers and 16 inserts.  I generally wash laundry every other day.  Newborns will use a few more diapers per day.  If you wish to wash less often, you may want to have about 18 diapers.  However, it is not recommended to let your diapers sit too long between washings, otherwise odors may set in.  The extra inserts are used for nighttime (I recommend 2 inserts at night) or for outings where you may need the diaper to last longer.

Do I have to rinse the diapers in the toilet?

I won't say that you NEVER have to, but it is very rare.  There is no need to rinse breastfed baby poo.  Most of the time solids will fall right off into the toilet.  After this, just separate the insert and diaper and toss in a diaper pail.  I use a 13 gal. trash can and line it with a Mother of Eden diaper pail liner.  When it's time to wash, dump the diapers into the washing machine and toss your diaper pail liner in with it.  It cleans right up, and you're ready to start again.  I have two diaper pail liners so that when I put one in the wash, I have a clean one ready to go into the pail.  If you want to, you can soak your diapers in water.  Just be sure to change the water every day.

How do I wash Fuzzi Bunz diapers?

According to the manufacturer, you first need to run the diapers through a cold rinse cycle with no detergent.  After this, wash the diapers in hot water (hot wash/cold rinse setting) using about 1/2 the detergent recommended on the box.  Hang to dry or tumble dry on low.  Do not use fabric softener, pure soap products (such as pure glycerin soap) or bleach on your diapers.

What do I do if my diapers start to leak or stink?

Occasionally your diapers may begin to repel urine or retain odors.  This is usually due to a build-up of detergent.  To solve this problem, try my method of washing them as instructed above until there are no more suds in the water.

Do Fuzzi Bunz diapers stain?

No!  It is very difficult to stain Fuzzi Bunz diapers.  The reason is because fleece is a polyester material which does not hold stains.  If you DO happen to get a stain, just lay it out in the sun for a while, or use Oxi-Clean or some other non-chlorine bleach.

Does the fleece make them hot?

No!  These are made of a very thin fleece.  We live in a climate which regularly has temperatures above 105° F in the summer, and we have had no trouble with heat rash or discomfort.

Are they bulky like traditional cloth diapers?

No!  Much of this has to do with the type of insert that you choose.  The inserts that we sell are all very trim.

They seem expensive.  Will they really save me money?

I realize that most people do not spend $200-$300 on diapers at one time.  However, if you look at our cost comparison of disposables vs. Fuzzi Bunz diapers, you will see that in the long run you will save money.  Look at it as an investment in your child such as a crib or stroller.  Those are items that your baby uses only a few hours out of the day.  Your baby will be wearing diapers 24/7 for about 3 years!  Do you think your baby would be more comfortable in soft, cozy fleece or abrasive paper?  Here are some tips for making Fuzzi Bunz even more affordable:

  • If you are having a baby shower, ask your family and friends to buy you Fuzzi Bunz diapers or accessories.  Look for our gift registry coming soon!

  • Buy the first size diapers that you need.  When your baby is ready for the next size, sell your used diapers to help pay for the next size.  If you have questions about this feel free to e-mail me.

  • Choose neutral colors so they can be used for any future babies you have.
